What does GEMO 6-month program entail?

The entire GEMO program covers two phases: 

  • A 4-month on-the-job training phase in Vietnam
  • And a 2-month job shadowing experience in the US

What does the weekly schedule look like?

Do you have a part-time program?

Unfortunately, we do not offer a part-time program at the moment.

Which types of projects could I accomplish?

Students are challenged to complete practical personal projects, pair projects and team projects to develop their competence gradually in different settings.

What is the commitment required for this program?

Students are required to commit approximately 30 hours per week.

Does GEMO offer a mentorship program from industry experts?

Yes, we do offer 1:1 mentorship network.

ADMISSION

What is the admissions process?

There are 4 steps in our admission process:

  1. Exploration: Students discover about the GEMO program through our website, this FAQ document, our AMA (Ask Me Anything) session and fill in this registration form by (date TBD)
  2. Screening test: Upon completion of registration, students are confirmed and announced by GEMO about the tests via email.
  3. Interview: Next, some students are invited to the interview for clarification or scholarships, and some students could directly pass with successful applications. 
  4. Final result: All the candidates are notified of their final results via email.

What do you look for in students?

We accept applications from all Vietnamese regions and backgrounds. There are minimum requirements of a bachelor's degree, a decent knowledge of coding and English capability of at least B1 level in CEFR. GEMO will seek to understand students’ aptitude via our screening process.

What if I have little or no programming experience?

Unfortunately, the program requires a decent amount of coding experience to competently finish the program.

How should I prepare for the screening tests?

There are 3 parts of the test: coding, problem-solving and English.

We require all applicants to undergo rigorous coding and problem-solving tests to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in this ever-evolving field.

Thus, we will assess your ability to analyze and solve complex problems, your approach to identifying and breaking down problems into smaller components, and your creativity and innovation in developing solutions. We want to understand your problem-solving process and how you think through challenges, as these skills will be essential to your success in this field.

For the English test, you should complete our English quiz or submit any of the below certificates in the registration form:

  1. CEFR: B1 and above
  2. IELTS: overall 5.0 and above
  3. TOEFL IBT: 42+
  4. TOEIC: 550+ (L&R); 240+ (S&W)
  5. Other: PTE 43+, Duolingo 60+, Cambridge or Oxford equivalent certificates

How should I prepare for the interview?

The interview is designed with brevity and clarity to ensure GEMO and you mutually understand each other. Thus, your self-awareness is appreciated.

OUTCOMES & CAREERS

What do I gain after graduation?

GEMO graduates will possess a strong sense of self-awareness, competent technical knowledge, problem-solving ability, effective communication, curiosity and proactiveness that land them a great job and a lifelong career.  The top students will have a chance for job shadowing experience in the US.

Does GEMO offer any job placement after graduation?

Although GEMO enhances the proactiveness within students and believes that our graduates will be globally recognized, our community does offer support for job placement.

OTHER

Do you accept international applicants?

Unfortunately, we do not accept international students at the moment.

Do you sponsor US visas for graduate students during the shadowing phase?

No, the students have to apply for US visas by themselves.

Does GEMO provide accommodation support during the shadowing phase? (only for 1st batch)

We only provide housing support for GEMO’s first batch of students.

Could I defer or pause my course?

You may apply for up to 12 months Leave of Absence.

I submitted my application but I am still waiting for a reply from GEMO. What should I do?
